Buy Nothing Day

Buy Nothing DayThis brief was to design an A3 black and white poster to advertise ‘Buy Nothing Day’. The one day a year where you do exactly what it says… and buy absolutely nothing, which is easier said than done!!
The project was focused around typography and creating distinctive letterforms.

I looked at the work of Alan Fletcher for example the logo he design for the V & A involves cutting off half of the A but it is still obvious what the letter is.

I experimented with this idea, and then started cutting sections of different letters up and putting them together to form a new letter. This method forms the main title on my poster.

This is some early experimentation I did using sections from a variety of letters then putting them together to create a new letterform.
